The Letter E

Kindergarteners are going to love the letter E.  There are so many cool things to do with eggs and elephants out there from comparing a raw egg to a hard boiled egg or putting an egg in vinegar to dissolve the shell.

Here are some books we will be using!

I love this story line and the individuality of the duck.  Well, individuality once he gets his egg.  What fun when you get to the end of the story and find out what is in the egg.  Then the story continues onto the back cover...cute, cute.

We will also be using

Below I will be posting worksheets to go with the egg/elephant unit.

New Fonts

I am so excited.  I found this site that has 1001 free fonts.  I have an old computer that does not have many font choices and would like some more kid friendly fonts.  So I downloaded Almonte Snow.   It is snow-capped black letters.  It will be perfect for units about penguins, polar bears, and Antarctica.

But I had to download WinZip in order to use it but hubby helped with that and now I am all set to go.  I wish there were a way to have a little more variety with blog fonts now.

J is for Jellyfish

Love those cute kindergarten students!  Love their enthusiasm and energy.  This week we will be studying the letter j and are going to focus for a couple of days on jellyfish.

Here are some worksheets to use with J.
1.  Read the book The Gooey Jellyfish.
Have students do the reading response I created.
2.  Pass out jellyfish pictures with numbers 11-20 on them and sort into chronological order.
Then do the response wkst with how many are red, etc  writing number words one - five.
3.  Have children watch a jellyfish video
